OpenMx Workshop

Report: OpenMx "Master Class" Workshop (November 2024)

From November 14-16, 2024, a workshop on the OpenMx extended structural equation modeling (SEM) R package took place in Richmond, Virginia, USA.

This "Master Class" was designed for individuals who already had some knowledge of SEM but wanted to learn the OpenMx approach to specifying and fitting models. The workshop focused on addressing the difficult learning curve associated with OpenMx and its wide array of highly flexible and modular features (e.g., mixtures, multiple groups, time series, regularization, ordered categorical variables, multilevel, item response theory, and hidden Markov models). The goal of the workshop was to ease this learning curve and thereby provide attendees with the ability to fit a wider variety of models than they might have thought possible.

The workshop was led by the OpenMx development team, which included Steve Boker, Mike Neale, Tim Brick, Rob Kirkpatrick, Hermine Maes, Luis Castro de Araujo, and Mike Hunter.
